MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan man has been arrested and charged with setting a building on fire.

Firefighters were called to 200 Walnut Street in Mt. Pleasant on June 8 for a two-story commercial building on fire.

Heavy smoke was pouring from the 10,000 square foot storage unit when crews arrived, and the building was destroyed.

Investigators say that several witnesses claimed seeing Christopher Bott-Fleming, a 25-year-old Mt. Pleasant man, setting off fireworks by the building before the fire.

Others told investigators that Bott-Fleming was later bragging about setting fire to the building.

Bott-Fleming was arraigned on June 11 on charges of third degree arson, a 10-year felony. He also faces a charge of arson preparation to burn property- $20,000 or more, also a 10-year felony.

Bott-Fleming is currently behind bars at the Isabella County Jail.

The building and its contents are estimated at more than $350,000.
