FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Two people are injured and the suspect is dead after a double stabbing in Flint.

It happened on the 500 block of W. Alma Avenue about 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

A male suspect stabbed a 52-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman in the chest and neck, Michigan State Police Lt. Dave Kaiser said.

The suspect them barricaded himself in the home when officers arrived to the scene. The police were able to gain entry into the home and released a K-9 dog who grabbed the suspect.

Police saw the suspect was still armed with a knife and called the K-9 officer back. Officers ordered the suspect to drop his knife, but he refused, Kaiser said.

The officers then attempted to tase the suspect, but it was ineffective. Police believe the suspect may have been on drugs.

Police were able to take the suspect down with physical force. During that time the suspect started having some medical issues, Kaiser said.

He was in critical condition, but died at an area hospital. An autopsy will be performed to determine the suspect's cause of death.

One of the victims is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.

No officers were injured during the arrest.
