FLINT, Mich. (AP) -

The former family home of automotive pioneer Charles Stewart Mott is continuing its 100th anniversary celebration with some birthday cake to be shared with the community.

The Applewood Estate in Flint has invited the public to a free birthday party Thursday evening. Planned festivities also include strolling house tours, pony rides, a petting zoo and music and dance performed by El Ballet Folklorico Estudiantil.

A state marker was unveiled last month to mark the estate's centennial.

The Ruth Mott Foundation owns and operates the estate. Ruth Mott died in 1999.

Her husband, Charles Stewart Mott, was a founder of General Motors. Both Motts were philanthropists.

Applewood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
