SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A woman was injured after she hit a deer with her vehicle Thursday morning.

It happened about 9 a.m. on E. Sanilac Road near State Road in Sanilac Township.

Cynthia Powell, 40, of Lexington, was driving a 2008 Ford Expedition westbound on E. Sanilac Road when a deer ran in front of her vehicle. She was unable to avoid the deer and damaged her vehicle, which caused the airbags to deploy, the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office said.

Powell was injured and transported to McKenzie Hospital for treatment.
