PINCONNING TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Two people are dead after a weekend crash in Pinconning Township.

Michigan State Police arrived at the scene on Estey Road, near Mackinaw Road, just after 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

Police said a pickup truck ran a stop sign, hitting the passenger side of a 1984 Corvette.

Sgt. Duane Cook with the Michigan State Police identified the driver and passenger of the Corvette as 65-year-old Donald and 51-year-old Denise Raber. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

"I stood up in his wedding. I've known him 20 plus years. He was just here Saturday and Sunday," said Gregory Stark, friends of the victims.

The driver and passenger of the truck are being treated for injuries at a local hospital.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was involved and all parties were wearing seat belts.

MSP Lt. Dave Simon said it is unclear if the driver of the truck will face charges.

"It will be reviewed and sent to the prosecutor's office, but we're pending the toxicology reports and any information we can get from the accident once the reconstructioners take a look at it," Simon said.

Stark said he misses his friend and the whole community is shook up.

"When it's your turn, it's your turn. He was in here Saturday and said he was going to get his Corvette out of storage and they were going for a ride. Guess they should have left it in storage," Stark said.
