OSCEOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Michigan State Police task force is trying to find out who killed an 80-year-old woman nearly 12 years ago.

Esther Gaffney lived alone at her home in Tustin, that’s in Osceola County.

On July 12 she was found dead and investigators say she was murdered.

Since that time detectives have followed up on numerous tips, and task force members think advances in forensic science and information technology will help create new leads and bring the case to a close.

Cold cases are often solved because as time passes, witnesses and people with information start to come forward.

Detectives are now asking that anyone who might have seen anything, or have any information, call the Michigan State Police Mt. Pleasant Post at (989) 775-9302.
