MILWAUKEE, WI (WNEM) -

A Wisconsin woman on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List after being charged with killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child has been captured.

Investigators said 24-year-old Shanika S. Minor shot and killed her mother’s 23-year-old neighbor in March, 2016 over loud music.

The victim’s due date was just five days away.

“Apparently Minor believed that the victim had somehow disrespected her or her mother,” said Special Agent Chad Piontek, who is investigating the case from the FBI’s Milwaukee Field Office. “It is a fairly violent neighborhood. Unfortunately, there is sometimes a street mentality about solving problems.”

Witnesses said Minor started an argument with the victim, a former high school classmate, after her mother complained about loud music coming from her neighbors home at an unreasonable hour. Minor threatened the pregnant woman with a handgun on the sidewalk outside her home.

Minor’s mother stopped the argument and asked her daughter not to hurt the woman.

Minor fired a gunshot into the air, then got in her car and left.

Just after 3 a.m. the next morning, police said Minor returned to the neighborhood, entered the duplex her mother and the neighborhood rented and confronted the victim by the back door.

Minor’s mother again tried to stop the argument and positioned herself between her daughter and the pregnant woman. Witnesses said Minor reached over her mother’s shoulder and fired her gun, hitting the woman in her chest.

The victim died in front of her two children. The unborn child also died.

Minor was captured in North Carolina on Friday. Further details are unavailable.
