FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A pair of Mid-Michigan farmers are normally the ones providing the helping hand, but now they are the ones in need.

"They were shutting down a lot of local stores and a lot of people were looking for vegetables. And I thought well, there's an opportunity to do something I love, which is farm and to give back," said Jeremy Diener.

He and his wife Mallory run Rowdy Farms in Flint. It's a place where customers can shop for fruits and vegetables and name their price, whatever they can afford to give.

"We have a take what you need, pay what you can attitude. So we don't charge anything necessarily, just donation based," Jeremy Diener said.

The Dieners are looking for a helping hand with fixing their broken well that has dried up.

"We lost our well last year, which had kind of a novelty to it at first. Kinda living like the settlers of old time, but with this summer being as dry and as hot as it it, not having plumbing and running water is kind of putting a strain not only on us, but on our neighbors who have been helping out," Jeremy Diener said.

In addition to crops, Rowdy Farms is home to a host of rescued animals. With the broken well, it has become difficult to not only run their farm, but their home.

"We really need a constant source of water. We've had a lot of people bringing us water, but that's only going so far. You can't water a garden with bottles, you know? Hopefully, with people's help it will keep going and we can help people eat. That's really what it's all about, providing fresh, organic produce for the community and we do have a lot of people," Jeremy Diener said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help out the Dieners.
