MIDLAND, Mich. – Needing a win in the series finale with the Lansing Lugnuts to earn a split, the Great Lakes Loons had to produce at the plate, something that’s been lacking so far this season. Despite some nervous moments late, the team responded in a big way smacking three home runs while also receiving an outstanding outing from starter Michael Boyle, leading to a 7-6 victory at Dow Diamond on Thursday.
Logan Landon, who had gone 111 at-bats without hitting a home run, hit long balls in consecutive plate appearances. His outfield partner Ariel Sandoval launched a pitch off his bat at 105 miles per hour and sent it 421 feet to dead center field to provide the early scoring punch.
