MICHIGAN, (WNEM) -

The Fourth of July is right around the corner and there’s a good chance you might be celebrating with fireworks, so safety experts are reaching out to help you stay out of the emergency room.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said there were 11 deaths and nearly 12,000 emergency room visits last year because of fireworks – the highest number in 15 years.

Even the most unassuming fireworks can be dangerous.

Sparklers can reach temperatures up to 2,000 degrees and often burn children.

Experts said the best advice is to use common sense and leave professional fireworks to the professionals.
