After the Fourth of July some firework stands will pack up for the year, while others will turn to a year-round business.

"Once the laws were changed we decided to put up a tent and make it a little family business," said Zach Acker, with Three Finger Rods.

Acker started the shop four years ago with his dad and brother.

The Saginaw family sells fireworks at the corner of Davenport and Mackinaw.

"We're usually out here for about two to two and half weeks. We start in the end of June and then make the family effort to be out here every day," Acker said.

The men take turns running the tent in-between their day jobs. After Monday they'll pack up whatever is left and close shop until next year.

"Anything we'll have left over we'll package up and either light them off ourselves or we'll keep them for next year because they will stay throughout the year," Acker said.

Fireworks sellers said the season started off slow, but picked up as America's birthday approached.

Bill Johnson, owner of All Season Fireworks, runs several tents across Mid-Michigan. He just opened a store on Bay Road that will stay in business all year.

"Sales are progressively getting better, but with more and more competition coming things are starting to level out now, but things are looking good for fireworks," Johnson said.
