Posted: Updated:
SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Shiawassee County residents in the Byron area with residential or business phones starting with 810-266 can't call 911 in an emergency, at least for the time being.

AT&T is reporting a service problem, relayed to the media via the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office.

Those affected can still call police, fire or EMS from any cell phone by dialing the non-emergency number 989-743-9111 until the problem is fixed.

There's no specific timeline for the issue to be resolved.
