HURON COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A man was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday after a farming accident in Huron County.

Officers were called around 8:30 a.m. to a hay field near Grassmere Road and Sebewaing Road in Grant Township for reports of a man who had been accidentally run over by a hay chopper.

Investigators said 35-year-old Shane V. Krug of Bad Axe was trying to get on a moving John Deere chopper operated by Richard D. Krohn when he tripped getting onto the step.

The choppers rear wheel then drove over Krug's right leg.

The man was taken to Huron Medical Center by ambulance and later flown by helicopter to a Saginaw-area hospital.

Officials said the man is listed in good condition.
