SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Police have made an arrest in the murder of 24-year-old Melissa Thornton.

She was found dead in a Saginaw home on July 6.

Saginaw Police and the Michigan State Police were called to a home at 607 Alexander, near Acacia, that's on the city's west side.

Investigators initially considered the death “suspicious." They are now calling the case a homicide, although there are no obvious signs of trauma.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man in relation to the murder. He was arrested on open murder and will be arraigned on July 8.

The cause of death is still under investigation by the Michigan State Police Dept.
