Man killed in Montcalm County crash

PIERSON, Mich. -

State police are investigating a deadly crash in Montcalm County.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Monday, June 11 at the intersection of Stanton Road and Maple Hill Road in Pierson.

Investigators said a vehicle driven by Frederick Fahner, 28, of Pierson was heading north on Maple Hill Road when it was struck by a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Nathan Mackenzie of Pierson.

Mackenzie was traveling west on Stanton Road.

Both drivers were treated by EMS on scene.

Mackenzie was taken to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for his injuries.

Fahner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said its unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
