Free lead testing offered to children in Flint

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A partnership between several companies is making it easier for Flint children to be tested for lead poisoning.

Walmart, biolQ, Labcorp and Advance Health announced the partnership Tuesday. Free testing will be provided to children ages 1-6 at four Flint area Walmarts on July 16, 23 and 30.

Results are sent to the parent or guardian of the child who can then share them with their physician. The results are also shared with the state and local health departments.

Lead poisoning can cause serious health problems, particularly in young kids.
