LAPEER COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A man broke into a home with a 16-year-old at home.

It happened July 15, at 2:26 p.m. in the 100 block of W. Barnes Lake Road in Columbiaville. That’s in Lapeer County.

The Sheriff’s Department reported a 16-year-old girl was home alone when she said a red SUV pulled into the driveway.

She told investigators a man got out and rang the doorbell, but when she failed to go to the door he walked around to the back where there was a glass sliding patio door.

The man reportedly then went back to his vehicle and turned it around so it was facing the road. The teen reports he then got into the home through the patio door and once inside went into a bedroom and found her.

The teen said the man asked if a certain person lived at the home and when she said no, he apologized and left through the rear door.

The girl wasn’t hurt and nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The victim believes the man was driving a red Mercedes SUV. He’s described as being 20-30-years-old, standing between 6’ and 6’4” tall with a stocky build.
