Deputies: GPS on phone distracts driver, causes accident

TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A woman said she was distracted while using her phone as a GPS and slammed into another vehicle.

It happened July 18 at 6:04 p.m. at Saginaw and Atkins Roads in Tuscola County.

A 41-year-old Bayport woman told deputies she was using her phone as a GPS and didn’t notice the stop sign at Saginaw Road.

She went through the intersection and hit a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old Vassar woman.

The Bayport drive, and her four passengers weren’t hurt.

The other driver had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
