People in Mid-Michigan finding cool spots to beat the heat

The steamy weather made Haithco Park the hotspot…literally.

"It's really hot. We didn't want to sit in the house, we wanted to get out of the house and hang out with our family, you know? Get some fresh air for once,” said Hailey Logan and Lazarria Palmer.

Logan and Palmer said they want to soak in the heat while it’s here.

“We have a lot of water bottles, sometimes we go and get in the van for maybe five seconds and then we just come back out here,” they said.

Some try to avoid the heat and humidity at all cost, though.

We spoke with three girls at a movie theater, who all said they prefer the climate-controlled movie theater at Goodrich Quality Theaters in Kochville Township.

It’s where many spent their night escaping the heat.

“We were going to go to a Loons game, but those plans changed because it was storming earlier and hot outside. So it’s better to come to a movie,” they said.

Even those who like working up a sweat chose to do it inside.

Joel Tanner said he doesn’t need the humidity to add to his bike ride.

Thursday night, he worked out at the Saginaw YMCA.

So did Maxine and Calista.

"It's really good to be indoors, especially when it's hot and you still want to work out and enjoy your exercise and lose the weight. So it's more comfortable inside than outside,” they said.
