FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A moped driver is dead after he was struck by a truck in Flint.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. Friday, July 22 on Dort Highway near the intersection of Webster Road.

Investigators said a 2005 Chevy Avalanche driven by a 78-year-old man from Flint was heading westbound on Webster Road when he tried to make a left hand turn to continue on Dort Highway.

Police said the truck driver had a green light, but his vision may have been obscured by a vehicle heading north on Dort Highway in the curb lane. The truck hit a moped heading north on Dort Highway.

The moped driver, 21-year-old Daquan Antonio Brewer of Flint, was taken to Hurley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the man was not wearing a helmet.

The northbound lanes of Dort Highway were closed for several hours while police investigated the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Jason H. Groulx at 810-237-6811 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.
