Stage crews, vendors battling the heat at Friday Night Live

Posted: Updated:

It's hot enough to melt a snowcone, but for Morgan Carter, he’s counting on the heat to help him sell snowcones like hotcakes.

“Well, we have the weather for it. For one thing, we got 94 degree weather and with the drought, it could be 101. So, it’s gonna be a good day for a snowcone.”

Carter is staying cool with his cones at the Friday Night Live event in downtown Saginaw, but others aren’t quite as lucky.

Workers setting up the stage for the show battled the heat all afternoon.

For Dennis Granger, though, the show must go on. He said they’ll set up the stage in all kinds of weather.

“I’d rather work in the heat than the cold weather. Your blood is circulating more,” Granger said.

Granger said the crew had many bottles of water and Gatorade on stand-by during set up but during the show, they have another plan.

“We'll let them play, then drink a beer,” Granger said.

For Carter and his snowcone stand, he expects a great night for business.

He said it's the only way he's working through the heat, too.

Friday Night Live happened every Friday night throughout the summer at Morley Plaza in downtown Saginaw. July 22 is Country Night. Latin Night kicks off next Friday. On August 5, the event will host Motown Night.

TV5 is a proud sponsor of Friday Night Live.
