DETROIT (AP) -

A man's decomposed body has been removed from a Detroit-area house, likely months after he died.

Authorities don't suspect foul play, although a woman who was living at the Hazel Park home apparently failed to tell anyone about Donald Smith's death. The 76-year-old's remains were found Friday by a hazardous-cleanup team.

Officials first visited the house Monday. City Manager Ed Klobucher tells The Daily Tribune there was evidence of hoarding as well as a nasty stench and eight cats inside. A woman in her 60s was taken to a hospital.

Neighbors say they hadn't seen Smith since December. Matthew Urben says the woman would ask for favors and usually say, "Donald says hi."
