A Mid-Michigan Medical Center volunteer turns 100-years-old this week and she's still going strong.

Rhea Currie has been a volunteer there since 1944 when the hospital first opened.

"These days if I'm filling out any kind of a form and it asks your occupation, I say volunteer. It's something I've always done, something that gives me great joy to be able to help someone in a tiny way," Currie said.

She volunteers at the center two days a week.

"As people come into the medical center and need help getting to where they're going, one of her jobs is to escort them. She will also deliver flowers and e-cards to our patients and greet people as they come in," said Diana Brookens, volunteer manager.

Currie said the love of her family keeps her living.

She did have one wish though. She wants more people to volunteer like she does.

"You get such a joy, even if you don't do anything more than help somebody to the elevator. You've helped somebody that day," Currie said.
