FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Hundreds of teens took a break from their summer jobs to help beautify a Mid-Michigan city.

More than 400 teens from Flint and Genesee County started beautification projects Thursday in six local neighborhoods as part of the Summer Youth Initiative this year.

The teens cut grass, rake and bag clippings and dispose of debris.

Students lead beautification projects at the following sites:

  • Ohio Avenue, between Iowa and Minnesota Avenues (1620 Ohio Avenue)
  • Max Brandon Park Neighborhood: Mason, Robin and Cassius Streets, near West Gillespie Avenue
  • Carpenter Road School Neighborhood: Daniel and Cecil Drives, between Carpenter Road and Polly Street
  •  Civic Park Area: Eastlawn Drive, between Dartmouth Street and Lawndale Avenue
  • Edmund and Tilden Streets, between North Street and Industrial Avenue
  • Zimmerman School Area: Brown Street, between Brabyn Avenue and Downey Street

The event ended at Kearsley Park.
