Veteran speaks out against Trump's comments to Kahn family

Posted: Updated:

Donald Trump is under fire for comments he made about the Muslim American parents of an United States soldier killed in Iraq.

His comments were made after the parents criticized Trump at the Democratic National Convention.

"If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say," Trump said in an interview after the convention.

Khizr Kahn fired back at Trump for suggesting his wife had not been allowed to speak.

"This candidate for presidency, to not be aware of the respect of a gold star mother standing there, and he had to take that shot at her. This is height of ignorance," Kahn said in an interview.

Art Bigelow is a Korean War veteran. He said Trump was not using good judgement.

"The boy is an American boy. He served this country. He served honorably, was killed in action. So why he feels he has to be so degrading to this man is inexcusable," Bigelow said.

Gregg Bryan volunteers for several veterans groups. He said he's not a fan of the way the family slammed Trump in their speech.

"The family, they goaded him. Standing there with their pocket constitution, waving it around was a bad mistake. They were both wrong I think," Bryan said.

However, Bryan said Trump should have shown more respect toward the parents who lost their son while he was serving his country.

"He's better than that. He's hot headed. He's inexperienced and he should never have done it," Bryan said.
