DETROIT (AP) -

He is in trouble with the law but not with his political supporters.

Democratic State Representative Brian Banks of Harper Woods beat five other Democrats in Tuesday's Primary. He will face a Republican challenger for his seat in November.

Banks is charged with submitting fraudulent pay stubs when applying for a loan six years ago.

Attorney General Bill Schuette filed criminal charges against Banks in June.
