Flint area athletes to depart for 59th CANUSA Games

Early Friday morning, more than 350 Flint area athletes will board buses heading to Hamilton, Ontario.

They will be competing the 59th CANUSA games, the annual amateur sports competition that has been going on since 1958.

The athletes will compete in several different sports like basketball, baseball, soccer, track, wrestling, swimming and gymnastics.

While in Canada, the athletes will stay with host families for the duration of the three day competition.

Buses will be departing from Flint Southwestern Classical Academy at 7:30 a.m..

Opening ceremonies will be held at noon Friday at Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton.  

Overall, Flint has won the games 28 times while Hamilton has won 26 times and there have been four ties.
