It's World Breastfeeding Week and women from all over are gathering to promote the benefits of feeding your baby the natural way.

Melissa Idalski said nursing is the way to go. That's why she came to the 15th annual Breastfeeding Walk in Bay City.

"If everyone could, they should. If they can do it it is a wonderful thing for your child," Idalski said.

She brought her brand new baby Ester. Idalski said her oldest is 12 and the breastfeeding world has come a long way since her first child.

"When I nurse him as an infant, if I was out shopping I would make sure I would go into dressing rooms and sit there in the bathroom because nursing just wasn't prevalent then," she said.

Idalski said she feels a lot more comfortable nowadays and said the walk brings nursing mothers together for support.

Beck Morgan, with McLaren, said women should be able to nurse anywhere.

"It's the natural way to feed a baby. It's acceptable, it's OK. All feeding should be compared to the gold standard, which is breast milk. That is the gold standard," Morgan said.

The women walked for about a mile and celebrated afterwards with food, face painting and games for kids.

All of the women who participated received free gift bags filled with information and sippy cups.
