Annual Farm Fest kicks off

Posted: Updated:

The annual Farm Fest is underway in Merrill.

Dick Wolverton, chairman of the festival, is excited to bring everyone out for the three day event.

"There is no favorite part. It's all really exciting. The beer tent last year was so full you couldn't even walk through there. The emergency light parade is fantastic," Dick Wolverton said.

The festival kicked off Friday and runs though Sunday with a full schedule of events. The big draw Friday is the Emergency Light Parade.

"It gives the community the chance to see something a little bit different. Something they might not have seen before. We get emergency vehicles from all over the area, just something really neat to see," Medical Capt. Todd Wolverton said.

The parade runs along a two mile route through town and ends at the Jonesfield/Lakefield fire district.

The festival is designed to bring the community together and has something planned for all ages.

"It's a chance for all the firemen to come out and let their inner kid go. Everybody is laying on the air horns, hitting the sirens all through town. It's just kind of gives you chills to see all the flashing lights behind you," Todd Wolverton said.
