SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A 23-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after police say he stole his uncle’s car so he could drive to Detroit and purchase drugs.

Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department said the 2010 Chevy Malibu was stolen from the Harbor Beach area on Sunday, August 7.

The owner told police he believed his nephew took the car without permission and was possible going to the Detroit area to purchase drugs.

On Monday, around 12:25 a.m. officers located the suspect driving the car northbound on M-25 near Deckerville Road in Forester Township.

The 23-year-old man went into custody without incident.
