BIRCH RUN, MI (WNEM) -

Two suspects were arrested after an August 9 police chase through multiple Mid-Michigan communities have been charged.

The chase started in Mt. Pleasant near Soaring Eagle Casino and ended in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn hotel in Birch Run, police said.

The chase was the result of a crime spree that started Aug. 6 when the suspects allegedly stole the car from Detroit in an armed robbery. Police said the car belongs to an Uber driver who lives in Swartz Creek.

Prior to the police chase, the Isabella County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Walmart in Mt. Pleasant for retail fraud. Deputies saw a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The suspects failed to stop and the chase pursued, speeds topping 100 miles per hour and going through Isabella, Midland, Bay and Saginaw Counties.

"As the vehicle slowed, they utilized a pit maneuver, a technique to disable the vehicle," MSP Lt. Dave Kaiser said.

As the suspects crashed on the front lawn of the Comfort Inn Hotel, they hopped out of the car and fled on foot. One of the suspects crawled through a drainage ditch and was met with more officers and a police dog.

Police recovered a handgun in the vehicle, Kaiser said.

"Both subjects have been taken into custody. One is at the hospital receiving treatment for a K-9 dog bite. The other one is going to be lodged in the Saginaw County Jail," Kaiser said.

The suspects, Deandre Currie-Lamar from Detroit, and Daryl Larkin from Ypsilanti have been charged.

Currie-Lamar faces 6 counts including unarmed robbery, fleeing a police officer and accessory after the fact to a felony.

Larkin faces three counts including unarmed robbery and receiving and concealing stolen property.

More charges are being reviewed in Saginaw County and Detroit.
