MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

One woman is in desperate need of a new roof.

Yvette Jimenez's house is literally falling apart.

"Well, I'm having some roof issues. Last week when it rained it literally rained on my head," she said.

Jimenez said her roof is leaking so bad it cracker her ceiling, dissolved dry wall and washed away sheet rock.

"I thought I was dreaming at first, you know? It shocked me when I woke up I was like who's here throwing water on me, but I looked up and it was coming down," she said.

Jimenez said she had a company come out to fix her leaking chimney last year. They told her the rest of the roof was in good condition. She said when she called them back out to the house this week they gave her a $7,000 list of things wrong with her roof.

"So I asked, why wasn't I told this a year ago that roof might need more work done? You could've gave me an estimate on the roof instead of just the chimney. So now they're telling me it's rotted, nails are uplifting and the shingles are put on wrong up there," she said.

Jimenez lives on a fixed income. She said she can't afford the expensive repairs and wishes she would have known what really lies under her roof.

"He sayd, 'well we didn't really inspect everything.' And I said, 'Well, you were supposed to inspect a roof, your roofers," Jimenez said.

Unless she can get help all she can do is retreat to her make-shift bedroom that she set up in the living room.

"I have the pot that I use when it rained last week and ready for the Thursday and Friday rain and me and the dog have our little beds made up on the couch," she said.
