DAVISON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A local high school football player is facing a long road to recovery after a serious crash in Davison Township.

Goodrich High School senior Joey Richvalsky was in a serious crash over the weekend leaving him in intensive care unit.

His community came together in a show of support last night. A long-time friend said the vigil had a clear and simple purpose.

“To show that we care about him, that we’re all here for him during this rough time, and to show that we love him and that we’re gonna make sure he makes it,” the friend said.

A GoFundMe account has been set up by friends and family.

"He will miss the first part of school and will need tutors to help him catch up on the curriculum. We are hoping to help his family pay for the financial burden of his recovery," those who created the account said.
