Authorities say a Michigan State Police trooper has been injured when her vehicle was struck by a suspected drunken driver on a freeway in suburban Detroit.

State police say the trooper was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries including a broken wrist following the early Friday crash along Interstate 75 in Auburn Hills.

The Detroit News reports she's a 29-year veteran of the force. WWJ-AM reports the trooper was working with road crews to block a lane for construction when her vehicle was rear-ended. The suspected drunken driver was arrested and taken to the Oakland County jail.

The northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for several hours after the crash but have since reopened.
