FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

More than 50 volunteers from Farm Bureau Insurance made an investment that they hope will last many years.

They helped in restoring the library at Doyle Ryder Elementary in Flint.

"This is one of our most important days honestly through the whole year," said Vic Verchereau, vice president of Farm Bureau Insurance.

The men and women transported books and equipment from one room to another with the intent to build a new facility by painting, fixing shelves and inspiring kids to learn.

"We are grateful for the generous gift of getting our library a new makeover and a new start," said Rob Bueche, principal at Doyle Ryder.

More than two years ago a flood damaged its learning facility.

Farm Bureau Insurance has teamed up with the Detroit Pistons to assist in renovating the school.

Former Pistons star Early Cureton was thrilled to be a part of the change.

"No question about it, you can put your imprint on it, know that you were here and be a part of it," Cureton said.
