BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Someone has been breaking into cars in Mid-Michigan and the suspect has been caught on camera.

The surveillance footage shows a man breaking into a car on Litchfield Street in Bay City. That was one of several incidents he's accused of.

"It's very unusual for this neighborhood because it's usually quiet and usually don't have any problems," said Lucinda Hadd, resident.

Christie Lynn owns one of at least two vehicles broken into last week.

She said the man rummaged through her and her neighbor's unlocked cars. He got away with easier to carry items like sunglasses and at least $60.

"It's scary. It's violating. I have to go to work at 6 a.m. so walking out of my house when it's still dark out and wondering if there is still somebody lurking around, it causes impulsive decision making," Lynn said.

She said this isn't the first time she's had an unwelcome visitor. With several kids in the house, she and her husband pledged to protect their property by adding a security system with four high definition cameras that alert them anytime someone comes near their home.

"We actually just bought more today so we're alarmed and everything," Lynn said.

Is is those security cameras that caught the thief in the act.

While police continue to investigate, Lynn is doing her own ground work. She shared the footage and urged her neighbors to look out for anything that doesn't seem right.

"At this point I'm just giving it to the community and I'm asking everyone to keep our property safe and care about each other," Lynn said.
