BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (AP) -

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says a worker at a suburban Detroit restaurant has been diagnosed with hepatitis A.

Department of Health officials say people who consumed food or drinks at the Social Kitchen and Bar in Birmingham north of Detroit should monitor themselves for symptoms of hepatitis A, which include sudden onset of abdominal discomfort, dark urine, fever, diarrhea, and yellow skin and eyes.

The Oakland County Health Division is conducting outreach to restaurant employees to recommend prevention treatment measures.

Restaurant co-owner Josh Humphrey tells The Detroit News the employee was a food service worker, but would not elaborate. He says the restaurant is doing "everything by the book" to handle the "unfortunate situation."
