FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A young man who authorities say plotted to shoot students at two Michigan schools is awaiting sentencing after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors.

Ryan Stevens was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and making a false threat of terrorism. WHMI-FM reports prosecutors in Genesee County Circuit Court on Monday agreed to drop the more serious charge of conspiracy after Stevens pleaded guilty to the false threat charge.

Stevens said in court that he never had any intention of carrying out the threats and was just boasting.

Sentencing for the 19-year-old is scheduled for Sept. 13. The threats were made last fall, when he was 18. Police say the Linden man and two other teenagers were targeting students at Linden High School and Linden Middle School in Genesee County.
