Detroit police say a 7-year-old boy has been wounded in a shooting that happened amid a dispute.

The shooting was reported about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on the city's east side.

Officer Nicole Kirkwood tells The Detroit News that a man, identified by police as Torrey Craft, argued with the boy's mother on Monday and then returned and tried to visit, but the woman's brother blocked him.

Kirkwood says Craft tried to shoot the woman's brother, but hit the boy who was outside with others at the time.

Kirkwood says the boy was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Craft fled and is wanted by police.

If you see or have any information on Craft, please call Detroit Police at 313-596-1616 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
