FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Michigan native Earvin "Magic" Johnson is heading to Flint as the headliner at an event next month to benefit Flint Community Schools.

Our Evening with Earvin "Magic" Johnson will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre located at 5353 Gateway Centre, Flint, MI 48507. Magic will be appearing as part of his association with Sodexomagic, a national company that contracts with school districts to provide various food services, districts including Flint and Saginaw.

Organizers say money raised from the event will benefit the Flint Community Schools Health and Awareness Initiative. This focuses on the development of school-based clinics and athletic renovations.

Individual tickets can be purchased for $150.   Various corporate sponsorships range in price from $2,000 to $25,000.

Organizers say there is an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence on the positive effects of sports and physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. The specific services provided by school based clinics will vary based on community needs and resources as determined through collaborations between the community, school district and healthcare providers.

For sponsorship opportunities, contact Dara Benton at (810) 760-1211 or email dbenton@flintschools.org to reserve your sponsorship and secure tickets, no later than Monday, September 12, 2016.

WNEM TV5 will provide full coverage of the Magic Johnson visit on September 23rd.
