A 36-year-old man was charged for assault with intent to murder.

Jeremiah Boshell, of Columbiaville, was identified as a person of interest in a Macomb County murder. The Lapeer County Sheriff's Office was requested to assist in the investigation because Boshell was believed to be in Lapeer County.

Boshell visited Pioneer Transmission in Lapeer about 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 wearing tactical gear and had multiple firearms, according to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office. The office added Boshell had verbally expressed he was going to harm former co-workers, but they were not there at the time so he left.

A Macomb County Sheriff's deputy saw Boshell leave Pioneer Transmission and followed him east on Davison Road. A Lapeer County Sheriff's deputy intercepted Boshell's vehicle and a pursuit ensued, officials said.

During the chase, Boshell allegedly fired a gun at a pedestrian at the intersection of Saginaw and Pine in Lapeer. The 67-year-old man from Lapeer was shot.

Officials said Boshell then positioned a gun out the window of his vehicle and fired at two Macomb County Sheriff's deputies. No one was injured during that incident.

After about 12 minutes the pursuit ended on eastbound I-69 near Wilder Road in Lapeer after deputies used tactics to slow Boshell down.

Boshell's vehicle lost stability and departed the roadway, officials said. He was then taken into custody.

He was formally charged in Lapeer on Aug. 18 with 17 counts including three counts of assault with intent to murder, multiple counts of felony firearm, multiple counts of firearms possession by a felon, ammunition possession by a felon, multiple counts of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and fleeing and eluding police.

He is being held on a $750,000 bond.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate Boshell as a person of interest in the homicide case.
