As hundreds of cars cruise down the streets of Flint, Back to the Bricks has many wondering, what is the difference between a classic, or historic car?

“Historic cars are like, before Christ. Like with the rolling Flintstones, when you use your feet. And classic cars are like 1900 cars, like the road runner,” Mariah Garcia, a classic car fan said.

Depending on who you ask, she’s not wrong. In fact, every person TV5 talked to had a different definition of classic and historic.

“Historic is something that dad would drive, classic is something I would want to drive,” said Carl Benedict, a mechanic.

For some, a car’s classification is based on age.

“Historic, I consider historic a 49’er maybe. A classic I’m gunna say 60s and up,” said John Davila a mechanic.

But classic car fan Lori Davila said “I actually think historic is 25-years or more, definitely not being made anymore. And a classic to me is more hotrod.”

To settle the score, we asked 33-year mechanic, and classic car owner Hector Garcia what he says is the difference.

“Me, I define it as a, a classic car is usually an older car that has enough historical interest to keep it preserved.”
