Two people are dead after a car driving the wrong way crashed head-on with an SUV.

Clare County deputies were called about 9:45 a.m. on August 22 to the area of US-10 near Old State Avenue for reports of a possible head-on crash after a vehicle was seen driving westbound in an eastbound lane.

When officers arrived, they found the crash was between a silver 2005 Mercury Sable and a red 2012 Chevy Traverse.

The driver of the Sable, 86-year-old Ines Brocht from Marion, and the driver of the Traverse, 72-year-old Charles Sarbach of Windsor, Ohio, were both found dead. A passenger in the Traverse, 71-year-old Janelle Sarbach, was also hurt.

The woman was taken to Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. She remains in critical condition, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
