NOVI, MI (AP) -

One man has been charged and a second man arrested in the theft of two watches from an upscale jewelry store in a suburban Detroit shopping mall.

Novi police say 26-year-old Jamal Ritter of Detroit was arraigned Wednesday on retail fraud, malicious destruction of property and larceny charges. He was ordered held on bond. His next court date is Aug. 31.

On Saturday, three men smashed a display case at Tapper's in Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, northwest of Detroit.

The mall was evacuated. Police said no shots were fired and some shoppers may have mistaken the sound of breaking glass during the robbery for gunshots.

Ritter surrendered Monday. A 26-year-old Detroit man was arrested Wednesday. Police continue to seek a third man and the driver of the getaway vehicle.
