MILWAUKEE, WI (WNEM) -

Is it sound advice or censorship? That’s what students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee wonder after the launch of the “Just Words” campaign.

WISN-TV reported the campaign discourages using certain words and phrases, like "lame," "thug" and "crazy."

The group behind the campaign said the words may be offensive and should be avoided.

“I think it’s kind of weird. I think it’s kind of restricting your freedom,” said one student.

Some students worry the list of words limits their free speech but the university said the campaign is just designed to raise awareness, not to enforce anything.
