FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

An American soldier had a warm welcome as he returned home to Mid-Michigan.

Patriot Guard Motorcycle Riders gathered at the MBS International Airport on Friday to greet Army Capt. Paul Rozell.

The captain returned from a one year tour in Afghanistan.

Rozell has served in the United States Army since 2008 with two assignments overseas. He was a Marine prior to his service in the Army.

Rozell returned to his wife and two young children, as well as several other family members who gathered to welcome him.

"It's a great experience for us Vietnam veterans. Of course it makes it so that we're able to give back, we're able to support the soldiers that are serving for us overseas and it gives us some closure from our time as well," said Jon Mulvaney, with the Patriot Guard Riders.

Rozell said he is glad to be gome and is looking forward to his next assignment. He will be stationed in Hawaii, but this time his family will be going with him.
