FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A new bike is a gift that’s sure to make many kids happy and one local restaurant put smiles on kids’ faces by doing just that.

Brenna Leonard said it's the best day ever. She joins dozens of other kids for the Annual Bike Giveaway at Krystal Jo's Diner in Flint.

“It's important to me because i get to exercise and it's fun because you get the breeze when it's hot,” Leonard said.

Tony Tucker, owner of the diner, said he collects bikes and fixes them up all year long just for this special event. It couldn't be done without the help of local businesses and volunteers. He said he just wants to give back to the community that has supported him so much.

“A lot of them do not have a lot of stuff. This is a neighborhood of single, working parents. They are willing to get their children these things but sometimes not able,” Tucker said.

Tucker said vendors even stepped up to ensure the kids are safe by fitting them with these brand new helmets.

This was the third year the diner has organized the giveaway.

They also gave away helmets, footballs and other sports equipment.
