FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Mayor Karen Weaver is expected to visit three Flint homes where crews are replacing old service lines as part of efforts to correct the city's lead-tainted water crisis.

Weaver's office says she plans Wednesday to stop by a house on Arizona Avenue and two homes on Durand Street.

Weaver says the city hopes to "have crews out almost daily" to replace 200 to 250 lead-tainted lines over the next month.

Two firms are doing the work Wednesday. A third contractor is set to begin pipe replacement next week.

Flint was under state financial control in 2014 when it switched from Detroit's water system to the Flint River to save money. Officials failed to treat the river water with corrosion-control chemicals which allowed lead to leach from pipes into homes.
