FENTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) awards a state transportation economic grant of $896,000 earmarked for road improvements on Thompson Road, located in Fenton Township.

The improvements focus on a badly deteriorated portion of Thompson Road leading to Performance Fabricating, a business investing $9,125,0000 to construct a new 100,000 square-foot production facility and headquarters.

The larger facility will bring 55 new jobs to the area.

The Genesee County Road Commission will reconstruct Thompson Road between Torrey Road and the northbound US-23 ramps.

In addition they will widen Thompson Road from two to three lanes, providing safer and more efficient conditions for vehicles turning in to Performance Fabricating and other businesses located along the roadway.
