Confrontation between victim, three men turns deadly

PONTIAC, MI (WNEM) -

A man was killed after a confrontation turned deadly in the city of Pontiac.

Deputies were called to the corner of Motor Street and Crystal Lake Drive on Wednesday, Aug. 31 for a report of a man shot and lying in the street near the intersection.

When officers arrived, they found the shooting victim, a 37-year-old Pontiac man, lying on a sidewalk at Motor Street and Hughes Avenue.

Witnesses told police three unknown black males were talking with the victim when one of the suspects pulled out a pistol and fire multiple shots.

Witnesses said the victim then chased the suspects for approximately one block south and which point the suspect fire another shot.

The victim then walked back north one block before collapsing near Motor Street and Hughes Avenue.

Witnesses said the three male suspects ran off heading south on Motor Street and then east on either Crystal Lake or South Boulevard.

A perimeter was set up and multiple K9 units and police helicopters responded to try and locate the suspects. The search came up empty handed.

The male victim was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital by ambulance where he later died from his injuries.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
